Wilkinson's of Norwich is proud to announce its participation in "Project 121"; an enterprise designed to help small holders of Coffee plantations throughout the world.
Each of the carefully selected small holders in the project produces a micro lot of coffee prepared and graded to meet SCAA
premium grade quality (minimum 82 points). Selected high quality coffee roasters will then be given exclusive access to these micro lots for a season. So Wilkinson's and the small holders involved enter into a relationship where the farms strive to produce their very best coffee, and are given a chance to put their face to the beans their plantation produces. As roasters we have the opportunity to promote a sustainable source and receive a unique and fully traceable great quality coffee.
Rina Mejia (pictured left) is now our source of this high grade bean from the sun kissed Caribbean. Being linked through the ethical credentials of the 121 system to Wilkinson's. Rina will now receive a far better, and much needed, return for her produce.
With a creamy body with a honey chocolate flavour La Ruda Honduras is a treat on the tongue. Try some soon and help us support the Mejia's lovingly managed farm where her coffee grows in the shade of carefully tended orange and banana trees.
Wilkinson's is currently investigating another smallholding in Honduras and hope to be able to offer more 121 project sourced coffees in the near future.
