Darjeeling tea, the delicate sophisticated tea of the high regions of the Himalayan foothills. Darjeeling tea is always lighter and more subtle than most. While you could in theory add milk to it to do so would rob you of the unique savor of this prince of tea!
Quality Darjeeling's are grown up to 6500ft in the Himalayas and considered to be the ‘champagne’
of teas. Its cooler clean climate gives a refreshingly light cup with a
natural muscatel flavor. The leaf can be typically thin and twisted
with silvery tips and a greenish character. An ideal evening tea
Sikkim Temi T.G.F.O.P.
Produced in the
Protectorate Kingdom of Sikkim this exquisite tea has all the flavour
of some of the best Darjeeling's of all. Almost honey like but with
floral notes to it, somewhat like the Jungapana but with a slightly
less flowery taste. Ideal for an early morning cuppa.
Up until the 70’s China
disputed sovereignty over Sikkim with India, the tensions disrupting
this mountain land in many ways Tea production not the least. Happily
that has at last been laid to rest and the protectorate now can
export its finest teas to the world once more. The best Sikkim’s
have been likened to the prestigious “First flush” Darjeeling's
making this an excellent tea to try when that hallowed brew is
unavailable between seasons.
